Promoting Gender Diversity in Collegiate Strength and Conditioning

In this presentation, Coach Rankin will go over some issues in the field of collegiate Strength and Conditioning when it comes to gender diversity. After briefly touching the statistics on the number of women in the field, she will go into reasons why diversity is important. Most importantly, Coach Rankin will help understand how we can promote diversity, inclusion, and belonging in the field of collegiate Strength and Conditioning.
Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the landscape of the collegiate Strength and Conditioning field – how many women are in it, as well as how many women are in leadership roles
  2. Understand why diversity is so important to the field and why should we be pushing for a more diverse and inclusive environment
  3. Start to be able to recognize biases that are frequently experienced by women in the field
  4. Learn how to promote diversity/inclusion/belonging in the field
