Lesson 1 of 11
In Progress

Opening Remarks

Bryan Cromer December 23, 2020

What is going on everybody, and welcome to the presentation of Self-Identity, finding and applying who you are to what you do, by Coach Brian Cromer. That is me. Thank you for joining me today, as we discuss self-identity and its importance in today’s society.

As a high school coach, I’ve definitely realized the importance of preserving the opportunity for every athlete that I work with to find and utilize their voice in everyday life. I encourage you to empower those individuals you work with and help them as they write their own stories, and create their own legacies as they go.

In this presentation, we are going to explore the meaning of self-identity, the role it plays in decision-making and leadership, and some potential red flags to be aware of along the way. This presentation does include an activity towards the end, a finished product, an example of one of the athletes that I’ve had the pleasure of working with, and an explanation of how this activity can be beneficial, not only for yourself, but also for those that you lead, work with and live with.

Finally, I’m going to share my own personal story and struggle through self-identity, and how the information being shared helped turn struggles into strength. Thank you for joining me again, and I hope you enjoy today.

So, let’s take a look at the learning objectives for self-identity course. By the time you complete this course, you will have a better understanding of what self-identity is. You’ll be able to recognize the effects of self-identity on decision-making patterns. You’ll be able to determine potential red flags that affect self-identity. Identify and reframe struggles into growth opportunities. And finally, and probably most importantly, answer the question, who am I?
